The evening filled with glitz and glamour, the beauty and elegance personified the entertainment industry to its fullest. At times very touching and emotionally moving, most of the evening funny and without doubt one of the most entraining awards events starting 2009.

While the fashion outfits were a mixed bowl of fruits and nuts, there was more then enough material with disastrous fashion to write till the cows come home. Botax must have been delivered in semis as most of the faces where starched out beyond the recognition.

Best-dressed ladies:

With the gracious elegance reminiscent of the late Princess Grace Kelly, Christina Applegate, breathless in buttery Roberto Cavalli gown, necklace by Lorraine Schwartz completed this elegant classy entrance.

Debra Messing in a midnight blue Vera Wang halter dress, body fitting, flamenco inspired creation’s tiered ruffle fishtail looked as always stunning. This woman knows how to strut her stuff and present it with style and elegance. Like excellent vine with age she gets better.

The best dressed male:

Aussie and stunningly handsome Simon Baker, star of the TV serious “Mentalist,” looked oh well so gorgeous in a blue jacket trimmed in black velvet-lapels. Not to crazy about the velvet, or the shiny ill fitted jacket, but then Aussies haven’t been known for great fashion style. I don’t think anyone really cares what he wears when you are blessed with such exquisite good looks and charms galore. Have a mercy!!

Aaron Eckhart, yet another good-looking hunk, talented actor from the “Dark Knight” going for his own signature with confidence and individuality expressed with paisley lapels, bow-tie fitting his bone structure and his demeanor of classy elegance.

Looking like a dream walking, Drew Barrymore in John Galliano gown is absolutely beautiful, hairdo reminiscent of the sex symbol of 60’s Merlyn Monroe. All worked beautifully except that the pearl ring stood out like pimple on your nose. The elegance of the gown required jewelry that is invisible; diamonds would sufficed.

When she was a little girl with her mom in tow we would bump into each other at “Dan Tana’s” restaurant, where she would flirt with my son JT. Who knew that cutie would turn into such a stunning beauty, I should have coached my son to reciprocate.

The worst of the evening!!!

When will she ever learn or will she? Maggie Gyllenhaal, dressed up in a Lanvin one arm blue leopard spotted dress which had a distinct feeling that a crime was committed at the goodwill store, was an absolute flop.

Renee Zellweger, in organza blouse and silk skirt by Carolina Herrera, Christian Louboutin shoes and Verdura Maltese cuff, looked confused as the rest of us who were trying to make some sense of this disarray, such a disappointment.

The worst of the worst!!!

Mickey Rourke

Nothing could in my furthest dreams prepare me for this and trust me I have seen it all and have seen Mickey in his worst until now!!! Wh ever has done this to Mickey Rourke should be exiled not to another country but to another planet. Never known to go with the flow and dress with good taste, but this is absurd, what a disaster!! Mickey, call me and I’ll donate my time for the Oscars free of charge. 310-574-6018

Jennifer Lopez, waistline bulging with access, the cut and the style not complimenting this stunning entertainer. We are accustomed to see her in magnificent and not ordinary gowns and this one by Marchesa, was anything but magnificent. However, obviously she didn’t spare on Botax.

The most unappealing attire of the evening belongs to this international duet, Heidi Klum, and her hubby Seal. She failed in a James Galanos pouf dress and striper’s shoes, to demonstrate elegance (all she needed was the dancing pole). Did anyone notice her shoes where size to small? Love Galanos, didn’t care for this dress, maybe without the gigantic rose and with elegant evening strappy sandals it would have been lovely, not great.

Let me leave you with one of the most poignant moments of the evening and there where many.

Kate Winslet in a stunning Yves Saint Laurent gown, looking exquisite, genuinely surprised, and in a word stunned as she walks away with not one but two golden globes. Her speech delightful and emotional as she thanked her costar DiCaprio, her husband, director Sam Mendes, the two ean in her life she is in love with, but the most interesting moment came when Winslet acknowledged her fellow nominees and drew a blank at Angelina Joilie’s name: ‘’Oh God, who’s the other one?'’ Was she really that overcome by emotions, or did she truly forget the home wreaker’s name?

The logic about outlets is no brainier; why not buy couture designs when you can save up to 75% while having a great time and save your money for other luxuries, like paying bills. I don’t know about you, but when I get a great bargain there is a such rush, knowing I jut got something at 75% discount.

But be very careful and keep your eyes wide open, most of the time merchandise at the outlets were made for outlets and are cheap and of lesser quality then merchandise made for the main store. Look for labels where prices have been cut over and over again and tags are old.

No matter where they live, here in the States or on the other side of the globe, today, with the economy difficult and changing times, even the wealthiest of my clients are doing anything and everything to save money and one arena they can save and still look like million bucks is fashion.

My first discovery of outlets was Neiman Marcus Last Call in Primm, Nevada. I was stunned discovering spectacular savings, not only on fashion but also accessories and furnishings.

At Primm, store manager Holly Bell, a diligent and a hard working woman, makes sure that my clients and I have a private preview. On this occasion, after a night of hellish food poisoning, we worked with seven clients who appreciated I didn’t callthe whole thing off. Here, couture events occur about four times a year, forget any glamorous treatment, even I don’t get water, for real. Bring water and dress for comfort, wear flats and that doesn’t mean sneakers. Neiman’s couldn’t do with out David Palmer Manager, Women’s & Children’s Dept. he is the best, your needs will be taken care off professionally, make sure he is there.

32100 Las Vegas Blvd
Suite 116
Primm, NV 89019
(702) 874-2100
A few hotel choices:

Not Primm Hotels, they can be hellish, however in Vegas proper, there are multitude of choices starting with Caesar’s, the Venetian, Rio and etc. Restaurants in Vegas are plenty and depending on your palate, you are about find your taste buds’ desire. Just a few we like: Le Cirque, Bellagio, Wolfgang Pucks, Caesar’s, the Venetian, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay and to many to list, this you’ll have to find out for your self.

Besides the great deals, what makes outlets inviting and palatable are the people who run the stores and the sales staff.

One of my favorite is wherever I find Sandra Kaminskas, the assistant manager of the Off 5th Saks Fifth Avenue Outlets, in Orange, Southern California. She represents and personifies class and service. Wherever she is I shop there, knowing that my clients and I will be treated with utmost professionalism. Couture events are three times a year. For meal break, “Market Broiler‎” will do, the food is decent, service great.

At Cabazon, CA look for Phil Preston, general manager, a great costumer service provider. For dinning break at Cabazon, my choices: next-door at the Morongo Casino Resort: a best dinner at Cielo with a breathtaking view from the 27th floor and also you can take advantage of great spa services. Make sure you make reservations for both the spa and restaurant.

Morongo Casino

Other choice is near by in Palm Springs, the town where the new and the old money collide with a great variety of stores, galleries and high-end restaurants.

I’ve been a huge fan of Palm Springs for decades, so there is no surprise when a few years ago we accepted a last minute invitation and joined our friend Tom in Palm Springs for New Years Eve. I reserved what I was made to believe a three-star hotel over the Internet and it turned out to be a hotel from hell. We had to schlep our luggage to the second floor and the room was the size of my bathroom with a view of a wall. Best Western Las Brisas: 222 S. Indian Canyon Drive Palm Springs, CA 92262.

Later as we approached the restaurant to meet Tom and his friends we where greeted by loud and drunken voices, graciously we bowed out and agreed to meet him later and went off into the night searching for an elegant restaurant with a great menu. Yah, good luck, on New Years Eve.

We found a parking spot, right in the front of an Italian restaurant, where we where greeted by a charming host, with apologies they where hosting a private party, he dismissed us only to be stopped by a voice from inside the restaurant and before we knew we where sitting at a table for two by the window. With a gracious and generous ambiance we proceeded to have a wonderful New Years’ celebration with bunch of strangers. The piano bar rendered the sounds of Sinatra and Dino, we feasted on heavenly food, amazing service, with first class act treatment. Vine and champagne poured into the early morning and when the bill arrived, we where charged for food only.

When asked why a such a generous treatment? We where tolled the hostess loved the way we presented ourselves. The message is, you never know when and where you’ll be in the similar situation, so always dress as if life is a party.

So next time you want to save a ton of money while getting outrageous deals and having a blast, give us a call 310-574-6018 and join us on our next fashion spree extravaganza.

Answers written for a magazine interview 2005, some facts might be outdated.

Q. Can celebrity scandals actually help a star?

I strongly think it depends on gender. Women are judged more rigidly than men, unless it is Paris Hilton. I think there is primitive thinking if man cheats he is macho and if women she is a whore. What has happened to Meg Ryan since her affair with that mischievous Aussie, Russell Crow? She has all but disappeared.

We have forgiven a charming snake like Bill Clinton who had on more then one occasion inappropriate sexual misconduct. Monica Lewinsky and the rest had their few moments of publicity, only to be placed in history as women without morals or any scruples. They tried to cash in on their short-lived celebrity, but where are they today?

While President Clinton is getting approximately $100,000 to $200,000 for public speaking and has earned from 2001 to 2005 according to Hillary’s Senate ethics report in excess of $30 million.

Q. Does a victim being cheated on or have a sex tape leak make you more sympathetic to the public?

We human beings seem to automatically go for the underdog, the victim, but again look what happened with Giuliani and his wife? He is not a particularly attractive male specimen almost became a bigger celebrity, as if cheating gave him a feather in his hat and Donna Hanover, the former first lady of New York City, is hosting tours of elegant homes across the country.

The sex tape leaks, are pure stupidity, or intentional exposure. ☺

Q. Does being in the press all the time, even if it is embarrassing, raise your profile?

Do we need to go any further than look at Paris Hilton? The more embarrassing the more publicity you get, and it seems the more she thrives on it. God know she has no other talents.

Q. What about Sienna Miller, who Jude Law cheated on her and publicly, apologized?

Apology will quiet down the media some and humanize his public persona but maybe he ought to follow in Kobe Bryant’s footsteps and get Sienna a little trinket. At the rate this boy is misbehaving he’ll keep his jeweler very happy and wealthy. What an insecure little man!!!!! That is all the cheating is, a sign of tremendous insecurity.

Q. Elizabeth Hurley, when Hugh Grant was caught with a hooker?

That is the day their relationship ended. His showing up on Leno’s show was a lifesaver. It’s a sort of dichotomy, cheat on your mate but be honest with your public and it seems all is forgiven. He is one of those celebrities whose charm makes us forget all his shenanigans.

Q. Brooke Shields when Tom Cruise attacked her for having postpartum depression?

I think Tom lost his mind. What qualifies him to talk about female issues? I thought Brook was so gracious about it, however he is an outrageous and a huge disappointment. Is this behavior a reflection of the teachings off Scientology?

Q. Paris Hilton with her sex tape released?

This topic is overdone and outdated so why don’t we move on to the next scandalous poor little rich girl, whose family has more money then God. I am sure they have Donny Deutsch is on instant dial, to put words in her mouth and keep her occupied from putting something else in her mouth.

Q. Martha Stewart when she went to prison?

What a farce that was and she went to prison for what? While hard-core criminals are walking the streets of America free, she was imprisoned. She’ll get richer and bigger than we ever thought it possible, she will make most scrimptions lemonade out of this lemon.

Q. Jennifer Aniston on Brad and Angelina, of course!

Jennifer Aniston is America’s sweetheart who will turn this painful experience into a positive one. Unfortunately Angelina has no consciousness and pretending she is innocent is not going to alleviate the scandal. Brad Pitt is already feeling the pain.

Q. Uma Thurman with Ethan Hawke cheating on her?

Water under the bridge, she overcame it and is a much bigger name than he is. It helps that she is an extremely talented and a stunning looking actress; success in itself is a sweet revenge. Ethan Who?

Q. Vanessa Williams when she was dethroned of her Miss America title because she posed for Playboy?

In retrospect that was a joke, but it might have opened many doors for her that otherwise might have stayed unreachable. She became a huge success in spite or because of what happened or she had some very smart advisers and used the opportunity to rise above it all.

Have you ever been on the beaches of Europe? Everyone is naked. There is nothing wrong with a human body; a morality dictated by some hypocritical puritans who attached a stigma of shame and insecurity of our own flesh. Absurd!!!

The evening filled with glitz and glamour, the beauty and elegance personified the entertainment industry to its fullest. At moments very touching and emotionally moving, most of the evening funny and without doubt one of the most entertaining awards events starting 2009.

While the fashion outfits were a colorful mixed bowl of fruits and nuts, there was more then enough material with disastrous fashion faux pas to report on, I just don’t have time to list them all. Botax must have been delivered in semis as most of the faces where starched out beyond the recognition. Those who needed it didn’t and those who didn’t need it over did it, scary.

Best-Dressed Ladies of The Night

With a gracious elegance reminiscent of the late Princess Grace Kelly, Laura Linney makes us take notice, be it in the winning portrayal of Abigail Adams in mini-series “John Adams” or walking down the red carpet in this one shouldered, lemon chiffon gown, dazzling the onlookers’ with timeless beauty and exceptional talent. She never fails to make the best dressed list year after year.

Debra Messing in a midnight blue Vera Wang halter dress, body fitting, flamenco inspired creation tiered ruffle looked as always stunning, emerald earrings and the hair do perfect a completion for this flamingo presentation. This woman knows how to strut her stuff and present it with style and elegance. Like excellent vine she gets better with age.

Looking like a dream walking, Drew Barrymore in John Galliano gown is absolutely beautiful, hairdo reminiscent of the sex symbol of 60’s Merlyn Monroe. All worked beautifully except the pearl ring stood out like pimple on your nose. The elegance of the gown required jewelry less intrusive, diamonds would suffice. (When she was a little girl with her mom in the tow we would bump into each other at “Dan Tana’s” restaurant, where she would flirt with my son JT. Who knew that cutie would turn into such a stunning beauty, I should have coached my son to reciprocate at early age.

Best Dressed Males

Aussie stunningly handsome Simon Baker, star of the TV serious “Mentalist,” looked oh well so gorgeous in a blue jacket, trimmed in black velvet-lapels. Not to crazy about velvet or shiny ill fitted jacket, but then Aussies haven’t been known for great fashion style, but they don’t lack producing some gorgeous looking stars. I don’t think anyone really cares what he wears when you are blessed with such exquisite good looks and charms galore. Have a mercy!!

Aaron Eckhart, yet another good-looking hunk, talented actor from the “Dark Knight” going for his own signature with confidence and individuality expressed with paisley lapels, in his case bow-tie fitting his bone structure and his demeanor of classy elegance. James Bond anyone?

Looking Good!!!!

“The Closer” star Kyra Sedgwick with husband, actor, musician Kevin Bacon, a striking looking couple, she in a red Oscar de la Renta gown that reveals her great curves and self-assured confidence. If she forgot the belt in the limo it would make the sexy and elegant actress even more memorable. However Kevin, your trousers are way too sloppy, to many breaks in the legs, makes this sexy and talented man appear geeky, but would love to have them both over for diner, I bet it wouldn’t be boring.

The Worst of the Evening

When will she ever learn or will she? “Dark Knight” Maggie Gyllenhaal, dressed up in a Lanvin one arm blue leopard spotted dress, which had a distinct feeling that a crime was committed at the Goodwill store, was an absolute flop.

Everyone knows I love this talented and versatile actress, but Renee Zellweger, in organza blouse and silk skirt by Carolina Herrera, Christian Louboutin shoes and Verdura Maltese cuff, looked confused as the rest of us who were trying to make some sense of this disarray, such a disappointment. Ever thought of trying another designer once in a while?

Jennifer Lopez, waistline bulging with excess, the cut and the style not complimenting this stunning entertainer. We are accustomed to see her in magnificent and not ordinary gowns and this one by Marchesa, was anything but magnificent. With yards and yard of material I could have reupholstered my couch. However, obviously she didn’t spare on Botax.

The Worst of the Worst!!!

Nothing in my worst nightmares could have prepared me for this disaster and trust me, I have seen Mickey in everything that tops the worst dress list but this beats it all!!! Whoever has done this to him should be exiled not to another country but to another planet. Never known to go with the flow or dress with good taste, this is absurd, what a disaster!! And what a talented man!!!!! Mickey, call me and I’ll donate my time for the Oscars free of charge. 310-574-6018.

Emmy, Golden Globe and SAG Award Winner, Tony Shalhoub star of the MONK, with wife, actress Brooke Adams, tonight didn’t walk away with best dressed. Instead it uppers Monk went down the road of no return in this religious getup, while his lovely wife in a frumpy and matronly schmata looks as she is preparing to play the mother of the bride in the Fiddler on the roof? The mind forgets the brilliance of the actors and is stuck with the image of this dual disasters. What a shame.

The most confusing outfits of the evening belonged to international duet, Heidi Klum, and her hubby Seal. She failed in a James Galanos pouf dress and striper’s shoes, to demonstrate elegance (all she needed was dancing pole). Not only the shoes were dreadful and clunky, but did anyone notice they were a size to small with her toes hanging over? Love Galanos, didn’t care for this dress, maybe without the gigantic rose and with elegant evening strappy sandal it would have been lovely, not great.

The most poignant moments of the evening and there were many.

Stunning Kate Winslet in Yves Saint Laurent gown, looked exquisite, genuinely surprised, and in a word stunned as she walks away with not one but two golden globes. Her speech delightful and emotional as she thanked her costar DiCaprio, her husband, director Sam Mendes, the two men in her life she is in love with. But the most interesting moment came when Winslet acknowledged her fellow nominees and drew a blank at Angelina Joilie’s name: ‘’Oh God, who’s the other one?'’

Ciao, until the Oscar’s.

We simply can’t do without bags, however what kind bag you chose can make or break your total image. Here are few pointers to help you make wise choices.

The carry-all handbags style dominates the fashion scene and indeed, some are so over sized it looks as if they are caring all, including the kitchen sink, but can avoid that and still be with the time!

From oversized totes to slouchy shoulder bags, women are looking like overloaded mules, schlepping shoulder bags bigger then they are and in the process loosing elegance and power. Just because it is in the style it doesn’t mean you have to be a prisoner of discomfort.

Thank heavens some old and reliable designers do make regular size handbags My favorite being Louis Vuitton and have been a faithful client for decades, as well as Coco Chanel, the reliable quilted bag, timeless, but somewhat matronly and along with the Chanel tweed suits, Ferragamo low heel pumps, pearls and etc., creates an image more fitting Mrs. Nancy Regan then the contemporary woman of today, so be careful when desging your image.

And most if us do wont to update our image and do keep up with trends, but do leave the oversized handbag in your car and take a smaller shoulder bag or a clutch with you, while remaining elegant.
Example: in this case large wallet with detachable shoulder strap paired with this practical and elegant Leather Quilted Tote.

http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=T32883

http://www.brightonretail.com/store/wishlist.php?m=product_detail&p=H4058

Or simply tote your chiropractor along side, as you’ll need them for frequent treatments.

And there is always a “however.” A newcomer has moved in on the fashion scene and is taking over. Lockheart handbags, you simply can’t go wrong. They are unique and stand out in style, rich colors, beauty and are designed for women of all sizes and all ages. Kim is tall and can carry this bag with ease.

A rule of tumb, smaller bags for smaller statue and larger bags, oh well, it is self explanatory, you never want a handbag to overwhelm your persona.

As Peggy, in a couture Armani suit from Neiman Marcus, Beverly Hills, demonstrates a major no, no and one reason why large bags can be unappealing, it sabotages her elegance and total image by overstuffing it, also designed by Lockheart. Saks Fifth Avenue & Nordstrom’s carry Lockheart bags.

So when shopping, keep focused on quality and timeless elegance, and once a year add a few trendy peaces to update your image.

The Ten Commands thou shall not do:

1. Thou shall not slouch under the heavy weight of oversized totes and shoulder bags.

2. Thou shall not mix different designers accessories.

3. Thou shall match your wallet, key chain and checkbook cover with your bag designer.

4. Thou shall not raid Indian reservations to cover thyself from head to toe with turquoise jewelry.

5. Thou shall not wear black from head to toe, unless you are going to a funeral or live in New York City.

6. Thou shall not wear “wedgie” sandals to work, unless thou is playing a lead in a “Gladiator”.

7. Thou shall not bear naked midriff in church, restaurants or working place.

8. Thou shall use thy brainpower and check in the world of reality that Brittany Spears is an entertainer and folks like you and I don’t dress in such a way.

9. Thou shall not over do “trendy” and look like walking billboard.

10. Thou shall not purchase quantity but make smart choices and invest in quality.

I am thrilled to see the talented Mickey Rourke, Phoenix like, rise from the ashes and soar back on to the big screen doing what he loves and is best at, acting. With a nomination for the Golden Globes Awards for best actor in “The Wrestler” the rumor is that his next project will see him staring in ”Iron Man 2.”

The first time I noticed Mickey’s rebellious personality, was in “Diner,” a comedy about a group of young men in the 1950s, costarring Kevin Bacon, Steve Guttenberg, Paul Reiser and Daniel Stern, just few names you might recognize. ☺ And the first time I meet him was at Café Roma in Beverly Hills, by now he was well known as a talented actor and a rebel.

Let me take you back to 1985 for few minutes. The “We are the World” USA For Africa Aid concert won Grammys for the Song of the Year and Record of the Year. Produced, by Quincy Jones, words written by Michael Jackson and Lionel Ritchie, idea born from Harry Belafonte and Ken Kragen an entertainment lawyer and activist, was instrumental in securing the talent and what a talent that was.

Reagan’s ruled the country; glamour dictated the fashion trends and life was glorious. I was a successful image consultant, my name and my face a familiar image and welcomed in Beverly Hills.

Besides Neiman’s and Sak’s, Rodeo Drive was the place to shop. Yves St. Laurent was still there, Cartier up the street with all the jewelry one can fathom, where some amongst my favorite stores to shop in.

My mantra was and still is, “quality”, instead of quantity and with clients who love couture designs; this was and is a place to shop.

With more the conservative and corporate clients we patronized “Gucci” or “Battaglia” and for younger and hipper clients I loved “Mr. Guy”, a store owned by Guy Greenguard, a first class act and a great coach and teacher. I learned so much from him. He’s the one that said, “Don’t ever put your name in the Yellow Pages; you’re bigger than that.”

Beverley Hills, was buzzing with celebs and most of us gathered at Café Roma, owned by brothers Gigi and Orlando Orssini. (Sorry if names are misspelled). With white plastic chairs and a huge gaudy painting of the Spanish Steps on one of the walls, Café Roma was one of the few restaurants with outdoor dinning, and during lunch hours it was flooded, with foreigners and celebrities a like. We all loved the food but most of all, the friendly atmosphere. One could sit right next to Kirk Douglas, Carl Reiner, Ann Bancroft, Ringo Star with his lovely wife Barbara Bach, and Schwarzenegger, too many to list them all. Rumor was that Princess Stephanie of Monaco, a frequent patron at Café Roma co-owned Cibaud George Boutique.

“The Year of the Dragon,” like Mickey himself, sparked a huge controversy amongst Chinese Americans for stereotyping and misrepresenting them and Chinatown, but the rest of the world loved the movie and Influential French film periodical Cahiers du cinéma named it in its annual Top Ten list.

At the screening of the move I saw the side of Mickey that the public didn’t know. A shy, generous man to both me and my friend Jamie Kechmar, who eventually worked for Mickey. Talk about the odd couple, Jamie honest hard working catholic girl raised in Youngstown Ohio was as different from Mickey as two people could possible be. After the screening, he took everyone to Café Roma for dinner and picked up the tab. If my memory serves me right, Ray ‘Boom Boom’ Mancini, another product of Youngstown Ohio and Jamie’s schoolmate, one of the nicest people you want to know, joined us that evening, he too was a regular at Café Roma.

Mickey was on top of the world and he was unstoppable, at least that is what he thought, judging by his actions.

At some point, he opened a little ice-cream parlor right across from Café Roma, with gaudy and loud signs for Harley Davidson. On more than one occasion, to the dismay of the Café Roma patrons, he would arrogantly drive his bike to the corridor just few feet from the dinning costumers, revving his motorcycle to the discomfort and disrespect of everyone. There was such an expression of disobedience. Finally Gigi, one of the dearest people, who loved Mickey, called the police and after a number of warnings, the parlor was closed.

A few years later, after flops like “Harley Davidson and the Marlboro Man,” co-starring with Don Johnson, Mickey gave up acting and went back to boxing, after annoying not only the patrons of Café Roma, but the entertainment industry at large and pretty much disappeared from LA and the show bizz. Self distractive life continued, until there was no where to go but down.

Today the world, once again, is his and we all who love the work he delivers on big screen pray that he doesn’t repeat the same actions, which got him out of show business and LA in the first place.

There is such a huge lesson to be learned for all of us, if Mickey, who went through drug addiction, alcoholism and was penniless, can reclaim his place in industry that is brutal and unkind to aging, there is hope for all of us who shined in the 80’s or whoever had a dream of living huge. Just claim it.

Today Café Roma is no longer a place where we meet and gather for Saturday family luncheons. The cold and uninviting decor designed by the new owners, stark white barren walls and unfamiliar faces, estranged the old timers and most of us have moved on to more inviting atmosphere. No Gigi to welcome us with open arms and friendly kiss and his staff is all but gone. At times you can still find Governor Schwarzenegger, surrounded by muscly body guards, playing chess there.

My husband and I have as different interest in TV and movie subject matters as we have in our professions. He a Dr. of geophysics and I, a trained photojournalist ending up as an image consultant, but when it came to Boston Legal the differences disappear and there was no doubt what we will watch.

The show created by the active and intelligent mind addressed the issues of a very sensitive nature with an open-minded approach while laced with a hilarious sense of humor.

With a two hour finale, yet another successful ending for the show’s producer and ever so ageless David E. Kelley.

Tuesday, the Emmy Award winning cast of “Boston Legal” took its last bow with another spectacular performance by all.

While at times a little to preachy, James Spader’s character Alan takes apart the Supreme Court justices and with passionate delivery, Spader’s and Shatenr’s charters dance their last dance, they really do, dance, into the night. The End!

Unfortunately the show didn’t generate high enough numbers to keep it alive. Why it would? It requires one to engage the thinking process. This shouldn’t be surprise when we, the citizens of this country, elected George W. Bush for two terms. DUUUH!

After five seasons of great entertainment which hopefully has awaken in us a new level of awareness and accountably for the state of this country, we also witnessed some outstanding fashion statements. Images designed for the powerful shakers and movers, now can be a part of your wordroebe. Everything is going on the ridicules sale, this Saturday,12-13th and Sunday, 12-14th at:

Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studio
1600 Rosecrans Ave.
Manhattan Beach, CA‎ - (310) 727-2700
From 8:00 am till 4:00 pm

See you there and every person for themselves.

Wishing you and yours Blessed and Glorious Holiday Season!!!

Ashley

PS I know this will get some of my Republican friends annoyed .:-)

As the summer days get shorter and days of frolicking freely in the sun, bicycling, sailing and running in the sand come to a close, let’s pay attention and repair some of the damage left from the summer.

1. Get your skin examined.
Don’t postpone it, do it now. Melanoma does not exclude anyone, it is the most common form of cancer among women between 25 and 29.

2. The sun block continues…..
Don’t get fooled that only summer rays damage your skin. Don’t put your sun block away with your swimming suit. Snow reflects 40% of the sun’s burning rays. While you are taking care of your face, don’t neglect the most exposed part of your body, your hands (they will give your age away before anything else does).

I have spent a fortune on most famous label names of lotions and creams and found Neutrogena’s products absolutely fabulous. To avoid the sun altogether use their sunless tanning lotion which has SPF 8.

3. Visit a great hair stylist.
Get rid of sun and chlorine damaged ends and try a new hair style for the fall. Lengths are longer, more feminine, and colored. We’re seeing true autumn colors of soft maple golds, acorn caramels, and chestnuts browns.

5. Get a new moisturizer.
Don’t ignore your skin and this includes you too gentleman, please and make sure to eliminate skin drying agents such as alcohol and witch hazel. Look for moisturizers with ingredients such as vitamins A and E, aloe vera, sunflower oil, and glycerin.

6. Walk, walk, walk and some more walk!!!
No matter what time of the year, always walk everywhere you can, park your car as far as you can and walk, walk, walk, you are never too large, too skinny, too young or too old, or anything too much, to walk. The fact is women today die from heart attacks as frequently as men, take your partner by the hand and go for a walk.

7. Last and not least, let’s weed out your closets, donate to charity what you haven’t used for the last two years and finally lets update your existing wardrobe with exusite styles and bring your wardrobe up to date.

Wishing you a year filled with peace and abundance.

It was scorching hot weather as the stars rolled in and tried to remain cool while still managing to look stunning. From the seat I was watching the 58th Emmy Awards was one of the most elegant and entertaining Emmy’s ever. The evening started with a hilarious and very talented MC, Conan O’Brien.

What a delightful surprise that this tall and awkward comedian can act and dance. Delightful too. TRUELY A NIGHT TO REMEMBER.

The Best dressed, first place winners:

Kudos to cutie Jeremy Piven who stole the show with his charm, his intellect and sense of humor and made us laugh with a statement “I’m the only straight man to bring his Mom four times to any awards show.” However, ditch the ascot and shave next time.

Jaime Pressly in a lace Badgley Mischka dress for her first Emmy Awards looked breath taking and Lord what body, it makes the soul ache with envy. Sizzling hot!!!!!!

EVANGELINE LILLY, The scrumptious star of Lost shined brightly amongst the stars with grace and calm elegance in a Versace strapless stunner of a gown and dazzling jewelry. Perfect combination for the star studded event. She cleaned up well.

MARISKA HARGITAY, the proud new mom beaming with pride and love for her newborn, looked sexy and sultry in a glorious and stunning Carolina Herrera gown. What a class act. I adore her.

The heat wasn’t the only thing that sizzled, so did the soon to be a mom HEIDI KLUM, revealing not only her sense of style in a flowing, crimson Michael Kors gown, showing pregnant women can be sexy.

TYRA BANKS looked like a Nubian princess in a $55,000 Georges Chakra couture trumpet gown, (for real?) showed her statuesque figure in a hip-hugging, one shouldered, mermaid-cut gown and completed this picture perfect shot with elegant chignon and $3.5 million worth of diamonds.

The Grey’s Anatomy, KATHERINE HEIGL, out of scrubs and into body fitting champagne-colored, silky Escada gown, made this transformation the sexiest image of the evening. She would wake up a dead man from his slumber. Wow!!!!!! And what a body, the whole package reflecting the classic elegance of the olden Hollywood, Jimmy Choo shoes and clutch completed this glamorous image.

The Worst dressed first place winners

Although most of the ladies looked stunningly beautiful, from my point of view there where some tremendous fashion mistakes.

Gentlemen held up their own, starting with “American Idol” judge, music producer, Randy Jackson in a wasted tuxedo, looked overdone, too hot and uncomfortable, a wrong image for this delightful man.
Also darling I see you around the town, give up those wrinkled and overworn jeans, you are not a youngster and just because you are in the music business don’t need look like a slob.

What a disappointment, the Dynasty’s diva, JOAN COLLINS, went way overboard in this outlandish and outdated getup. From her wig to rhinestones covered gown she reechoed of the old image reminiscent of the fashion trends form her dynasty in the 80’s.

PAULA ABDUL, it breaks my heart every time I see her at the awards. Her floral gown more fitting for my 95 years old great aunt and accompanied with the wrong choice of jewelry, making this fashion statement a matronly disaster. Was she trying to impersonate royalty? Well she did, queen mom. It appears as if she takes pride in making the worst dressed list year after year. What a shame. Wake up . You are short; the less is better on petit women such as you.

VANESSA MINNILLO, TRL host, heads the worst dressed list in this too-tight, too-sequined cocktail dress. Did Dolly Parton loan her one her old gowns? Ultimate in tackiness. Ouch, it hurts my eyes just to look at this.

SANDRA OH, in a periwinkle, waist-cinching gown with a ruffled neckline, her slender figure lost in Vera Wang gown and adorned with every kind of bling-bling they could find, sabotaging this exotic looking women’s image. Overdoing it is the disease of the nuevo rich. In this case, more is not better.

Will & Grace’s Megan Mullally looked like a militant lesbian, desperately trying to stay cool, in a long-sleeved, floor-length navy gown. Thank heavens for the neckline plunging down to her pubics, reminding us what a sexy dish she really is. Brilliant strings of diamonds, embraced her bosoms. Exquisite. Hey did you think LA in August could possible be HOT!!!!!!

However this uncomplimentary image didn’t stop her form walking away with an Emmy. Congratulations.

Didn’t need to be told to curb my enthusiasm when this masquerade of a gown showed up. CHERYL HINES, from The Curb Your Enthusiasm, a nominee in stiff taffeta gown with dreadfully overdone back, blinding those who didn’t wear sunglasses.

Desperate Housewives, EVA LONGORIA in a plunging, bubble-skirted dress by Jason Wu, disappeared in this lovely and way over whelming gown. Was she really in there? This gown was fitting for someone much taller then this minute star.

Adrian Grenier, cast member of Entourage, got lost on his way to a hobo convention? What where you thinking? And you publicists and agents, how could you let him leave a house looking like such a slob?

Nominee Denis Leary, love him, love his intelligence, his outrageous personality, hated the ridicules mafia wannabe look in a black suit with the red tie. And what was his wife wearing? Regretfully, they win the worst dressed couple for the evening.

Remember it takes on 30 seconds to make a first impression, make sure yours is memorable.

If you can’t afford to spend a ton of cash for your summer dash with coastly products like Channel and such, then here are few affordable and then some not so affordable tips for the part of your image that matters the most. Your skin.

One of the most essential aspects of our image is grooming and it plays an equal importance in both genders, so gentleman make sure you ear and nose hair are trimmed and get rid of that uni-brow. It doesn’t mean you are sissy, but on the contrary, someone who cares about their presentation and themselves. Unless you are Boy George, gentleman please restrain from using makeup.

For glowing, healthy and younger looking skin drink a lots of water, eat lots of vegetables and wonderful delicious seasonal fruit.

Wash your face frequently with water to avoid oil accumulation on your skin. Also you can rub ice gently on your face to keep the pores closed and gives your skin youthful and fresh look. To asure the healthy look, moisturize, moisturize and make sure it contains SPF.

For foundation use Almay Nearly Naked Touch-Pad Liquid Makeup with SPF 12, it comes in six shades, to meet the needs of every woman.

I have tested almost every mascara possible. The worst, Sisely & YSL, the best Lancome, Cover Girl and Maybelline’s pink & green legend and it is America’s most affordable and my favorite. Given that the life of mascara is only 3 months, get an inexpensive and the most popular with top makeup artist I work with.

For the glowing and glistening look for summer days, for your face try the Wet ‘n’ Wild bronze instead of the blush .

To keep your skin younger looking, use Loreal, Micro - derma abrasion kit for exfoliation , $24.99. It would cost you for the set of six treatments $1200.00 with your dermatologist.

Airbrush Makeup For All Skins, Spray on perfect-looking skin in an instant! This lightweight formula imparts an invisible, impeccable finish. Water resistant.

Liquid “Sunless Leg Tab” gives legs a nice tan to replace nylons. …$ 9.95 in department store would coast you $50.00 and more.

For toady’s very busy life style a quick way to moisturize, try Olay moisturizer in the shower. Or the cream my mother and every female in my European family has used for years, Nivea. Don’t forget the tops of you ears, your elbows, knees and top of your feet. They take a beating from the elements.

For your eyes, neck, face and top of your hands there is no product comparable to French miracle creation La Mer, synonymous with skincare miracles and ultimate in luxury. While it is expensive, it is worth every penny. My clients are swearing by it.

The product is so fantastic that my plastic surgeon, Dr. Randal Haworth of Beverly Hills asked if I had my eyelids done. As if I would let anyone else touch my face, except him.

And no matter where you are, how old or young you are, if you never worked out in your life start now and if not for looking good, do it for living long and healthy life. Start walking for your life. Make sure to stay hydrated, drink lots of water and eat healthy. And always first, check it with your Dr.

There is nothing like a great music to lift the spirits and get the body moving. It helps the circulation and breaks monotony on those long summer walks.

Here are some oldies but still kicking it today. Thelma Houston’s “Don’t Leave Me This Way” and Gloria Gaynor’s “Never Can Say Goodbye”, made my body move with rigger on the disco floors in the 80’s and still today has the same impact.

Your image connotes power and influence, and conveys much about your professional worth and social standing. It is important in your career and your social life. Image is important in just about every facet of life.

A research study conducted by UCLA Professor Albert Mehrabin has found that first impressions are based 55% on our appearance, 38% on our voice and only 7% on what we actually say.

In today’s competitive marketplace, business leaders know that even the subtlest nuance in presentations can make a huge difference.
Millions of dollars are spent on product marketing and advertising, yet most people don’t think twice about their most important presentation - their personal image.

In this dynamic one-day workshop for men and women, you will learn how to increase your power, confidence, and credibility as you discover the key componentsof a winning image.

With twenty-four years of experience and an international background, I will foster a compassionate and transformational environment. In our seminars an anonymous face becomes a credible leader radiating panache and style.

Do the clothes make the person?

You don’t think so? Ok, just for a moment stop and see in your minds eye, what comes up when I say Michael Jordan? Ok you got it! Hold on to that. Now what does come up when I say Dennis Rodman? There is a judgement no matter who is your favorite.

Study after study has shown, in the first thirty seconds people will form opinions about your economic level, your educational level, your trustworthiness, your social position, level of sophistication, social and educational heritage, your level of success, your moral character, your future and even if they like you. What message does your appearance tell the world about who you are?

On Sunday June 25th, you can learn how to dictate what people perceive about you and find out how that can make your dreams come true.

In this one day seminar, through group exercises and makeovers, you will discover and learn how you too can develop your own personal alluring signature style that will attract more money, power and romance into your life.

Dear Ashley,

Congratulations on another successful seminar. It was so amazing to see the transformations of plain Janes into glamorous women in a matter of hours. Your seminars are more about making individuals looking their best but to instill confidence.

This time I had enough confidence to ask for a 25% higher compensation than the offer. When I was insecure I always accepted what was offered me. Today after we returned from lunch I went outside the room and was on the phone talking with the person who offered me a job. He told me that he has to ask for a vote by the Board of Directors and promised that the final offer will be higher than the original but may not be as much as I asked for.He continued to say that after the customary probation period of 90 days I can always ask for a merit increase. It is thanks to your support year after year that I have the courage to ask for more pay than offered. I start working for the Chinese Historical Society of Southern California tomorrow replacing their only permanent full time staff, doing everything to keep the Society operating and growing. I am grateful that the members of the Board have enough confidence in me to give me such responsibilities. I have been a volunteer at the Society for a few years and the Board members have seen me doing things proactively and follow through.

I cannot wait to see you start a TV show of your own. It is never too late to start a new adventure.

Best regards,
Yvonne

The location for the Sunday, April 30th Seminar, “Dress To Impress The World” will be held at the Culver Hotel, in a quaint and elegant ambiance. This hotel of historical distinction is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Culver Hotel, located in Culver City, next to Beverly Hills, is snugly situated between Sony and Culver Studios and across the street from a newly opened restaurant owned by none other then Harrison Ford’s son, where we possibly might dine on the 30th.

Famous personalities such as our late President Ronald Reagan and governator Arnold Schwarzenegger took part-time residence here.

So as not to exclude the Democrats, Oscar Award winning, the multi-talented, extremely charming, ok and sexy, Tim Robbins, the owner of a theater on the same street, prefers staying at this historical registered find, to the Beverly Hills, more elegant watering holes.

Culver Hotel has appeared in many of the productions filmed by Culver Studios. In 1938, it was the residence of 124 munchkins for the filming of The Wizard of Oz. Its walls covered with large images of bigger then life Katherine Hepburn, Carry Grant speak of the yesteryears and more glamorous times of this Historic Place.

So many of you responded to this writing and passionately agreed with my point of view, with one exception whose thinking is that Clay Aiken is sexier than Josh. As an old saying goes “to each his own?” and while I adore Clay’s angelic voice, I can’t imagine the two men on the same page. Someone please get this girl a pair of glasses and not rose colored ones. So with a huge demand from you the readers, I am bringing it back to the front with a reconfirmed point, that this hunk is not only still the sexiest, but a damn good actor as well.

And on a personal note to you, dear Josh, I heard you don’t like to be teased and called the sexy man. Well, my dear, God makes no mistakes, she knows what she is doing, so some advice from this world renowned image consultant, be thankful for what you have and own it up. One doesn’t eliminate the other, meaning your good looks are a huge contribution to your talent, like the delicious icing on a scrumptious cake.

“Not since the likes of Clark Gable and those amazing bigger then life swashbuckler movie stars, Errol Flynn, and Garry Cooper have we been blessed to feast our vision and imaginations on an actor with great looks, sexy southern accent and presence that demands notice.”

How many of you remember the infamous line from Margaret Michelle’s “Gone with the Wind” uttered form the lips of then the lord the screen, Clark Gable: “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.” That look, that stance, it said it all and made us want for more.

So finally someone has discovered an actor with that same magnetism, which fills our screens capable with that one look to communicate all, the fear, the discontent, the arrogance, loneliness, anger and all with great passion and conviction.

Keep your eyes wide-open ladies as you feast and get lost in the magic of his enchentig blue eyes whose power is as captivating as the sunsets of the Hawaiian Islands where he spends time filming the role of the bad boy Sawyeron. Josh Holloway will surely make every women wish she was lost alone on some far and distant island in his strong and masculine arms. And Oh Lord that smile!!!!!!

Brat Pitt and George Clooney better watch out, another hunk has moved in and is filling the fantasies of every female still breathing. I am sure, this talented and scrumptious man will before we know it, rule the big screen. He has what it takes to dominate the image of the sexiest man alive. Alleluia!!!

For decades we have been mesmerized by the British avant-garde and at times reckless author Ian Flaming’s fictional character James Bond and the world loved the scandalous hero. Admired by both genders we never had enough of his adventurous shenanigans. The more we got the more we wanted.

But who is James Bond? Is Ian Fleming James Bond? The Cultural Politics of 007 is an entertaining and revealing examination of the many facets of Bond’s character, before Bond became a cinematic icon. Whatever political statement Fleming made, we fell in love with the everything knowing, everything able and ever so sexy Mr. Bond.

This scoundrel, the protagonist of a series of thrillers that appeared during the time of Britain’s decline as a major power, heated up the Cold War and women’s boudoirs. The cinematic James Bond has long eclipsed not only the fictional Bond who bore the marks of Fleming’s heroic fantasies, his restless ingenuity, his snobbery, and his creator too.
We have loved his womanizing, the ever so elegant, dashing combination of cool intelligence, lethal aggression and sexual magnetism of James Bond, portrayed by number of virile and tall Scots and Brits, accustomed to that face, that smile, that style and classic action hero, and aren’t going to accept the changing of the image of 007.

So what were they thinking when choosing a little-known actor, Daniel Craig, as the new Bond?

Changing the image of 007 into a blonde, a short, little-known actor will never suffice. If they assumed that Americans and the rest off the World will just accept it I doubt it.
What is missing with new 007? The dark and sultry look, sex appeal, oh well let be straight and call it as it is, everything is missing that made James Bond an everlasting image in our minds that will remain as such.
Next time ask an Image consultant for advice, it would help to have a hit instead of a flop on your hands. My choice, hands down, goes to the talented London-born actor Thorsten Kaye who portrays the melancholy Zach Slater of “All My Children” as the wealthy casino owner.

“This man oozes with a raw sex appeal and talent to boot, a voice that makes you wish you were next to him on some deserted island and your children had his last name.”

There is no surprise that this multi-talented and educated actor has appeared on the London stage in such plays as The Winter’s Tale, Love for Love and Tartuffe. A seasoned Shakespearean actor, he has performed in numerous theatrical productions, including Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew.

Not since Sir Laurence Olivier has an actor been able to fill the screen with such magnetism, reach out and grab your soul and pull you into the story, as this wonderful actor does. With little botax, he could easily and effortlessly portray the role of Heathcliff, in Emily Bronte’s “Wuthering Heights.”

Hello producers grab him before someone very smart does, and they make his name a household word, and get a hit on their hands. With class, theatrical background and huge range he dictates roles that are memorable.

An avid rugby player, Mr. Kaye played throughout Europe before enrolling in graduate school at Wayne State University. After getting his master’s degree in theater and theater history, he joined the Hilberry Repertory Theatre Company in Detroit.
He also published a book of original poetry, entitled From “Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens”, with Dorothy Bridges, widow of actor Lloyd Bridges, whose family is a one of the finest class of people I have had the pleasure of meeting and working with on LAWHE in early 80’s. So it is not surprising that proceeds from the book, which accompanied a CD release of the same name, go to “Give Kids the World,” a charity for sick children.

“Where do you think you are going dressed like that?”

With vacation season just around the corner, traveling inquires come across my desk with concerns about how to dress when abroad. As entrepreneurial men and women, we travel from continent to continent, and the demand for information and knowledge on how we dress as we move around the world is very important.

* It affects our comfort, safety, and our etiquette.
* It affects our social interactions.
* It can make or break our travel adventure.
* And, if one packs too much, carrying bags can be tiring, not particularly elegant (seeing a lady schlepping a suitcase bigger than she is), and ultimately can cause crankiness, discomfort and a need for chiropractic services.

No matter where you are traveling, your image communicates volumes about who you are, be this your first trip to the moon or your trip to your Aunt Mini’s in Timbuktu. Poorly groomed people are putting themselves into financial and social jeopardy.

Your image tells those around you that you care about who you are. How you look and carry yourself is a non-verbal language you are communicating which says that you deserve only the best, or not.

Those of us who travel frequently are sadly aware that the majority of passengers dress for comfort or just simple laziness. It’s nylon tracksuits, jeans, t-shirts, shorts with sweatshirts, sneakers and, most inexcusably, many times they are just simply dirty. It is not only about our individual desires to be comfortable; we owe it to the fellow passengers who will be sitting next to us to be dressed appropriately and at least to take a shower.

Dressing this inappropriately is a major form of sabotage. And when was the last time that your ticket was upgraded? What happened to clean and smart dress attire? The only place you see it is in first class, and not always there. Wearing high heels and nylons is overdoing it and it is dangerous and most uncomfortable. However, if you care to be treated with grace and class dress the way you like to be treated, world class, and behave as such. It’s very easy to present a polished and professional image and still be comfortable when traveling.

Dress like you deserve exceptional customer service, if exceptional customer service is important to you. I don’t always have a first class ticket, but as first class or business class I travel upgrade more than seventy percentof the time. White linen, delicious cuisine and first class service makes a world of difference!

Before the fall of Yugoslavia, I traveled home frequently, via Germany, France, Italy or England and my most memorable times that I love and cherish were in Italy. I love Europe and then there is Italy, the culture, the fashion made by the finest and of the finest materials, and its people, let’s not forget the rich cuisine, with garlic and all, it is all just scrumptious. They know how to live a life passionately. In addition, their men – you don’t need to look like Calista Flockhart to be appreciated as a woman.

On one occasion, when TWA messed up my reservations, and as we landed in Rome, I was greeted by the airline’s manager, who personally took charge of my luggage and escorted me through customs into the waiting limousine. They provided me with a limousine service for my entire stay there . A huge compensation for a small mistake, or could it be the way I presented myself, that granted such a service?

I stayed at my favorite place, The Grand Hotel Plaza, one of the oldest hotels in Rome only steps away from Trinità dei Monti, otherwise known as the Spanish Steps - home to Via dei Condotti location of the most wonderful shops in Rome.

http://zeual1.roma1.infn.it/icons/trinita.jpeg

However, a lady traveling alone in Europe be forewarned, men will approach you if you are sitting alone in the restaurant. While waiting for my meal I was approached by five men, finally talking with my maitre ‘d stopped the intrusion. Sitting solo is a sure invitation to romance, as if Mediterranean men need an excuse, God love them.

My suggestion is very simple, when visiting another country, honor the culture and its people, learn to say hello and thank you in their language, also take the clothes on your back and your toiletries; the rest you buy in Europe as you travel. If you are in the Middle East honor the dress code, in some countries more rigid than others.

Some of my friends and clients gladly offered to share their experiences. I hope you’ll benefit from their generosity for your next traveling adventure, to whichever locale on this planet your journey takes you. “Bonne voyage!”

Your knowledge of what is appropriate, whatever you have learned about other cultures, traditions, is greatly appreciated so as to make traveling safer, more comfortable and enjoyable.

Culturally correct clothing
What worked for you?
What didn’t?
How much did you pack or, how little?
Any problems when you didn’t dress appropriately?

Where to start?

1) Think PMT before you travel; it’s an easy way to remember Photo ID/Passport, Money, Tickets!

2) Pack light or you’ll wish you did! One hint: If you’re not going to wear something more than 3 times, leave it at home. Every clothing article should match, complement or have 2 uses (sandals/slippers; scarf/shoulder wrap.)

3) Arrive at the airport early…spending time shopping and having a coffee is more fun than racing to catch the plane.

4) If you’re checking in luggage, carry essentials in your hand luggage (toiletries, make-up, undergarments and etc). If your luggage goes missing, you’ll have enough to see you through the first day of your trip, by which time your luggage will have arrived.

5) Be comfortable! This does not mean you can’t be chic…especially if you’re looking for an upgrade. Do opt for comfortable shoes and an outfit that not only looks great but will also keep you feeling cozy when you’re sitting on the plane.

Please stay tuned for more tips as the week goes on.
With regards,

While we are in communication with most of you on a daily basis, and not with some who live far away and given the busy lives we live, I thought this would be a great way to kick start the new 2006 and share with you the events from 2005 and the influence you have made in our lives.

Blair and I have spent an amazing year and while at times challenging, the days were interwoven with joy and tears, and we have survived yet another year and are thankful for all those who have touched our lives.

After nine years together, seven of those married, we found a place where we meet on the turf that is “ours” instead of having it be “my way or the highway” and life has been a banquet, from which we are feasting and having a blast.

I took a self-imposed sabbatical, so to spend more time with my husband, spend time at home instead of hustling and packing and unpacking suitcases while traveling from one city to another all over the country, also to be readily available for my sister who was diagnosed with lung cancer in October 2004, when she needed me.

Without any networking what so ever I stayed busy, my career lucrative and future promising. What lights me up and kept me stay out of trouble is my passion to train new consultnts and one on one individual consulting. Morever in the recent four to five yeras I have become image expert and adviser for a multitude of publications, Cosmopolitan , US Weekly, Star, People, Shanghai Evening Post, China, German Gala, AP and etc. it gave me expresion of creatvie writing, which is another of my passions. Listed for your pleasure are few examples.

http://www.rothschildimage.com/articles/.

In May of 2005, Blair finally quit his job with Applied Minds, which was going nowhere; however, he misses the brilliance and leadership of Danny Hillis, Co-Chairman, and Chief Technology Officer. The two men born on the same day respect each other’s intelligence and talent tremendously. Today Blair is working at Sony Pictures Imageworks with some amazing people in a rewarding and satisfying position and only 15 minutes away from home. An additional bonus.

For Blair’s birthday, I surprised him with a first class train trip to San Luis Obispo, where we met his folks for lunch and celebrated father and son’s birthdays. Their birthdays are a day apart. We returned back to LA in a romantic sleeper, enjoyed an elegant dinner, with the gorgeous scenery while chasing the sunset rays along the coast, with hundreds & hundreds of dolphins frolicked in the sun embraced waters as they followed us and made this trip a wonderful experience. Try it, it is great experience, but make sure you go first class.

Blair’s parents successfully harvested their vineyards and then one after the other, survived, the mother with a knee surgery and the father a hip replacement and today are off, well almost off and running at their beautiful vineyards estate in Templeton, California. As you can see Blair’s boyish good looks are inherited from his Germanic mother Barbara.

2005 has been a heart breaking year as we helplessly observed my older sister Mira (here with my son JT in 2004) lost her battle with lung cancer. Friends and family, all those who loved and adored this dynamic woman watch her deal with this horid desise. What makes this even more tragic is the fact that she was a medical practitioner and very aware of the deadly outcome of smoking.

To her daughter Vera, thousands miles away across the puddle (what we call the Atlantic Ocean) thank you for your amazing courage and the strength we all relied on when your Mom passed away. I am impatiently waiting for the day when we will again run on the beach of Santa Monica and reminiscent the old memories while making new ones.

Another blessing in my life is my other Mom, Mrs. Helena Rothschild from Rochester New York, JT’s paternal grandmother, who is a greatest gift I been blessed with. A weekend does not go by that we do not talk with each other and she makes sure to include Blair in all our converastions. She adores him. In true sense she exemplifies what true class and love are.

My adapted sister Linda, here with her husband, JoeT in Cannes, South of France, flue to town just to take me to lunch when my sister Mira died. Some day I’ll tell you how we became sisters. She, from Denver and I from Yugoslavia. Through the years, we have made some sweet memories, some less serious from our single days when we danced till down at Tiffany’s, then an exclusive private club in Marina del Rey and then pigged out on donuts on the way home, those days we could do it, today, oh well. Truly, you are an awesome sister and I could not love you more if we came from same mother. JoeT love you too bro.

Our dear and precious friends, David and Kelley B., their two girls, Ariel 6 and Elle 2 who grow up in front of our eyes, in June 2005, moved 1,000’s of miles away to Avon, CT, to be closer to their grandparents and immediate family, and they took a bit of our hearts with them.

First snow for the California born and breed princesses, Elle and Ariel with their dad David a native of CT.

With anticipation if the 2-year-old Elle will recognize us, we picked them up at airport, as you can see she is very much at home back in our livingroom, with mutual friend Courtney, as the girls open their gifts and reconect. We shared wonderful week, which came to the end way to soon.

To my dear friend Celta, thank you for your generous heart, I been blessed to have you in my life, come rain or come shine you are always there. We truly are blessed to know you. Keep it up; the world needs your gift. She doesn’t like having her picture taken, check her website. Write a book girlfriend.

Doris Scott, what a gift you are. Thank you for the light you bring, like a fresh bright sunrise you light up whereever you go and do it so effortlessly as you empower others ☺. To Joseph your husband thanks for putting up with us during the renovation period, which at times was nothing if not challenging, you are a treasure, “your lordship.” ☺

Time has been kind to this handsome man, and didn’t leave marks of its journey across the face of this charming proprietor of Divino, a four star restaurant at 11714 Barrington Ct Brentwood, CA 90049 310-472-0886. A long time friend, a water polo player for the Yugoslavian team in 1984 Olympics, Goran Milic personifies integrity, charm and hard work and makes me so very proud to be my countryman.

Blair’s younger sibling Bard, stopped for a visit on his way to Germany where he is teaching children skiing, and with the Masters in Atmospheric Sciences is what I call adventurous living. He resembles their father, Blair Sr. There is no place in our home that my husband doesn’t invade with his putters. We have three desks and he is using Carrera marble dining table.

Dear Rochelle, I know I said it before and am saying it gain, thank you, for your generous heart. Girl, keep your dreams alive and don’t ever stop going for what you wont from life. Love you. Check her talented self website.

Then there are people we did not see daily but whose influence on our lives is has left a permanent impact and we still remember. I wish you could know some of those amazing people we call our friends.

Heidi, my dear friend we miss your passion, your awesome leadership, and your New York flavered intelligence. We miss you in our lives and wish you an amazing future in your marriage to Joel and your new journey, in the process don’t forget friends who love you profoundly. You are greatly missed by us all.

Kathy Popoff a friend and a client, for over twenty years, we have watch each others lives travel through some challenging and rewarding roads. As a single mom and an attorney at law, you show no sign of aging. Picture speaks 1,000 words, this one taken at our place on Thanksgiving Day 2005, says it all. Photograph below taken in 1993.

Laura and David B. what a magical, and I mean magical day, at the beach in Santa Monica, on Jewish New Year this was. I spent my whole life by the sea, from the shores of Adriatic where I learned to swim, to the shores of the magnificent islands of Hawaii, where I spentdays body surfing and nights dancing at the waterfront, but none can compare to this day. In pure sense, it was mystical. I’ll treasure this experience for long time to come.

A treasured friend Sarah seated next to Blair, we love you profundly and are blassed to have you in our lives. Without a doubt you are one of the most genrous and courageous people I know. Keep up the good fight my dear, you know we are in your corner.

To you my dear husband and my soul mate thank you for your partnership and your trust in us. Without your belief in this relationship, we would have parted long time ago. We are off to make some new adventures and live an extraordinary life, we did it once we can do it again

While I am thankful for the blessed life that we live and for the people in our lives, not for a moment do I forget the injustices that permeate this government, and the tragedies of the World. From the war in Iraq (pronounced phonetically, Erak) to the New Orleans tragedy and those millions of misplaced people in the crowded streets of this wealthiest country referred to as the homeless. Taxpayers money, yours and mine should be spent not on wars for some political egotistic gains, but to fund facilities where the homeless could be housed, medically helped, educated and sent back into the world to be useful participants of this planet we call Earth.

So when the next election comes around let’s not forget today’s politicians, our decision makers who blow air up each other butts while our fellow Americans in Louisiana were left to themselves to die as the result of political negligence. What a disgrace and some of us actually think that this presidency works.

Lets make our voice count and make difference the next time around.

If you are not listed here forgive me, you know who you are and how you have contributed to our lives. Every clint I ever worked with, new image consultans I trined personly, hair stylist, makeup artis, stuardes, sales assocaites I have ever worked with, every restaurants owner, servers and all my dear friends and family members all over the world, you know how much you are appreciated.

Next year this face will look at least 10 years younger thanks to the best plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills Dr. Dr Randal Haworth. The look on my face is most likely result of the shock how much I have to hand over have this done☺ Ouch, in more ways then one. But trust me he is worth it, I have seen his resoults for the last 10 years and they are fenamonal.

If your pocketbook is lined with $1000.00 bills or you have unlimited credit on your platinum card, you are Bill Gates, The Donald or Oprah, then most likely this won’t be a topic of concerned to you. I am sure their stylists / image consultants have done the selecting of the gifts for them.

In any case at this time of the year, for most people, dealing with such a dilemma as what to give for the Holidays to say the least, exhausting.

To avoid spending tons of money and adding to our already stressful lives, here are some last minute tips. It helps greatly if you first make a list. Secondly, it would help if you know what the recipient’s needs and likes are.

No matter where you live, what age, gender or size, giving a luxuries and sexy cashmere is always a safe and wonderful gifts to receive. Anything from socks to robes and of course, sweaters. If you can’t get Ralph Lauren sweater named after Ms. Oprah at $498.00 a pop, you can always give it a try to your local Costco. A client of mine, a PR lady with pride, parades in her Costco’s cashmere. Definitely not my first, second, or even third choice, but if it works, why not?

Giving luxury gifts without breaking the bank is the tip for today and so here is how to make sure the purchase is a 100% cashmere (no blends, and only two ply). If the label doesn’t indicate that it is two-ply, rub your hand across the sweater and if it doesn’t pill (meaning that the fibers rub off and resemble small pills), you know it is high quality cashmere.

As some of you know, my mantra is always first and foremost “quality” you can’t ever go wrong with it. Also if you buy your cashmere at Costco and such, make sure you buy one size larger than you would shopping at Neiman’s and etc. Nothing looks tackier than a bosomy woman wearing a sweater that’s a size or two too small and is bursting out all over like a balloon.

What if your gift recipient is not a cashmere person? You can always go and visit your local Brighton store or their website, http://www.brighton.com/main4.html. Yesterday I met 50 clients of mine at their newly opened Marina del Rey store and we had a blast selecting the gifts while each and every one was treated with the utmost class – that is very important ingredients to provide for my clients. What service, and what a class act!

My compliments to an entrepreneur personifying business sense and huge and generous heart, Mr. Jerry Kohl the creator and owner of Brighton co.
Happy shopping and drive carefully.

Wishing you and yours a glorious and love filled Holiday Season and be sure to remember those who are less fortunate and especially the elderly, who are often ignored at this time of the year.

Prosper and Celebrate.

Make your table setting for New Years day breakfast an elegant and a romantic experience and let it reflect the beginning of the coming Year. Superstition on the Balkans is that the way you start the New Year will reflect the rest of your year.

Knowing do’s and don’ts when serving wine adds sophistication to your entertaining.

Do’s

* Serving excellent wine with a bit of style helps set the atmosphere for a special party. Entertaining can be just as enjoyable and refreshing as your glass of vine!

* Do serve wine in any glass you feel comfortable with and you enjoy using.

* I am sure you have heard that red wines should be served in round, deep glasses and white wines in tall steep glasses, however, I grew up on the Adriatic coast, hailing from the Mediterranean and we drink from any glass as long as the wine tastes good! Serve your Pinot Grigio in whichever glass you prefer whether tall or short, delicate or sturdy, pretty or swanky! In Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia, some wineglasses don’t even have stems, meaning that many Europeans are sipping Pinot Grigio from a glass resembling a small U.S. juice glass!

* Do learn how to open wine elegantly.

* Know your corkscrew when entertaining. For the grand opening, choose a trusted corkscrew that works for you rather than a new one and its always a good idea to have a back-up corkscrew on hand. Today there are many different types of corkscrews available some with arms, some with legs. With all these twists and turns in design, the corkscrew can be an expression of your personal style!

* Do serve Pinot Grigio in place of sparkling wines.

* Not only is Pinot Grigio chic, it is a fabulous alternative to the sparkling wines and champagnes used for toasts. The wine is also a great complement to hors d’oeuvres and party snacks!

* Do store wine in the fridge and use the leftovers.

* It is proper wine-serving etiquette to always ask guests permission before refilling their glasses!

* Opened wine can be stored for 2-3 days in the refrigerator.

* Invite your friends over the evening after the party to help finish off the leftovers!

Don’t
* Don’t run out of wine.

* Be sure to get a good estimate of the number of sippers to plan accordingly for wine purchases. One bottle of wine fills about 4-5 glasses. Remember that glasses should be approximately 2/3 full. While many guests will gladly enjoy another glass, it is proper wine-serving etiquette to always ask their permission before refilling glasses!

* Make sure you don’t spill any wine, especially red, on your guests or table linens or rug.

* For a tidy serve, simply end the pour with a slight twist. Just in case of dripping, it never hurts to have a napkin within reach!

* Don’t get overwhelmed by food and wine pairings.

* Experiment with wine and food pairings. As a general rule, dark wines go with heavier foods and lighter wines go well with lighter foods. Chianti and Pinot Grigio are perfect examples; pair a crisp Pinot Grigio with dishes such as seafood, poultry and vegetables. On the other hand, a rich, fruit forward Chianti goes best with any type of pasta, game or beef.

* Don’t serve just two varieties.

* Mix it up a little! Have several types of wine on hand- you’ll be increasing everyone’s wine savviness by exposing your guests to new wines. Offer several red varietals such as Merlot, Chianti and Sauvignons as your red wine selections.

* Here is to your health, Salute, Votre sant, and Nazdravlje.

Tips for storing and serving wine to help you become an entertainer with savvy!

* A Smart and Savvy Start. Storing wine correctly is the key to serving with style. To keep wine at its optimum flavor, it’s important to get the basics right: time and place.

* Store all unopened wine in a cool, dry place, away from extreme temperature variation and sunlight. When storing wine for an extended period of time, neither the refrigerator nor the freezer is the place to be! Try storing wine in the closet, which usually maintains a stable temperature.

* By storing the bottle on its side, the cork can remain moist. This means that the cork is less likely to crack or break when opening.

* Very few wines are to be aged for years and years. However red wines may get better with age, if stored properly, and can be stored for up to three years from the year listed on the vintage. Once opened, white and red wine can be stored for 2-3 days in the refrigerator. A vacuum wine sealer is an excellent tool to keep an opened bottle of wine fresh for several days after opening.

* Successful Serving. Demonstrating proper wine serving etiquette will impress your guests and prevent spills. With careful planning, youll be on your way to wine-serving stardom!

Votre sante!!!!!!

Live and love passionately. Don’t drink and drive.

All the hard work, the talent, spectacular amount of money spent and not withstanding the politics playing a major role in the preparations for the 77th Oscar’s are now part of yesterdays dreams.

The big party began with all the glitz and glamour that Hollywood could master. From very chic to ridiculously absurd outfits sashed up and down the red carpet, with hopefuls dreaming that per chance their name be called for the one of the most prestigious awards given to entertainers as recognition for their talents. As the last guest rushed in behind the closed door, party begins with Chris Rock and his great and at times questionable sense of humor. Sorry folks but no ONE can replace the amazing Billy Crystal, who personifies humor with class and intelligence, in one package.

The viewers where privy to some heart felt moving speeches followed with tears and laughter, while some deserving entertainers where recognized for their talents and brilliance the others obviously where snubbed and left wondering why not me?

So why did my favorite and brilliant comedian, Robin Williams had to come on the stage with a tape over his mouth to prove the paranoia of FCC? While crowed roared with laughter it makes one wonder how far will FCC go to control the self expression? Since Janet Jackson’s incident, it seems their decisions are colored with paranoia. Robin Williams, not to speak his mind? What a waste of time and genius, we might as well turn all TV sets off across all the continents. His image, oh well, he never fails to be unique and uncannily decadent.

While I so wanted Alan Alda to win, for the best supporting actor in Aviator, when Morgan Freeman’s name was announced, there was a loud scream coming form my chest with pure joy. Congratulations to a great artistic interpreter. Somewhere, justice was alert with eyes wide open.

However, I don’t understand how this gracious and brilliant actor never hits the right fashion statement for himself. Year after year he sports the scraggly beard and always black on black, sabotaging the image of this superb actor.

Beyonce looked stunning in Versace’s black silk velvet strapless “Siren” gown. Reminiscing of the curvaceous Mae West, her voice, her hair, her makeup was spectacular. Whoever did her makeup, throughout the evening should for sure win an Oscar, such an amazing work of art.

In the course of the evening, she changed her gowns and her hairstyle a number of times. And sorry Oprah, but your protege had to mess it up, by borrowing chandeliers from St. Peter’s Cathedral and use them for accessories. What was that ridicules jewelry exhibition around her neck and her ears, during the phantom song performance? In this case, more wasn’t better.

The surprise of the evening was the choice to have Beyonce render The Phantom Of The Opera song, while its star, Emmy Rossum, looked on. What a slap in a face. Total disgrace. Academy what were you thinking? Does our lovely Oprah have everyone around her little finger?

The 19 year old star of the Phantom of the opera, lovely Emmy Rossum in a mermaid crimson Ralph Lauren fishtail gown, looked beautiful, but failed to hide her disappointment.

Halle Berry in Versace iridescent taupe silk chiffon gown, in simple words looked exquisite!!! And how lucky for us she landed here on earth, as I am sure this stunning creation is from another planet .

Lady of Spain we adore you and your passionate image. What a great combo of class and sex appeal all in one small package, made her look simple delicious in Prada most flattering gown. Salma Hayek, you rock!

Best actress nominee swanked in a Guy Laroche, a long-sleeve, shirred gown, Hilary Swank looked absolutely stunning!!!! What a body, what a talent, what a human being.

Orlando Bloom in a one-button peak lapel tuxedo with a vest looking smashingly hot.

While there was a difficulty in finding a bad egg among the celebrities, trust me, they didn’t escape my trained and scrutinizing eye.

Cate Blanchett portraying the infamous Katherine Hepburn in Aviator, won a very deserving Oscar for the supporting role, looked pale and invisible in a belted yellow gown, and lost the elegance that was hers for the taking.

The lovely Penélope Cruz in an Oscar de la Renta strapless gown looked great, making the entrance but exiting the room left stunned onlookers confronted with a huge bow on her tush? The image of a baby with a full diapers, needing to change.

Apple’s mom, Gwyneth Paltrow, showed off her post-baby slender figure in a nude silk-and-cotton-voile corset dress, terribly fit and wrong for her body type, designed by Stella McCartney.

Melanie Griffith, oh Lord, what was she thinking? In a celadon beaded off-the-shoulder Versace, to busy for the lovely actress. It looked like a humongous tattoo.

Is this queen Mom or Imelda Staunton, nominee for the best actress in Vera Drake? Without a doubt the most frumpy, boring and uninspiring dress at the Academy and that skunk color across her lovely head is outdated and out of style.

The biggest disappointment of this years Oscars was Sean Combs, whom I adore, love his fashion sense, his high energy and no nonsense entrepreneurial visions, however this time he shamelessly and in a very nouveau riche behavior was name-dropping designers who provided overdone accessories, all this had tone of poor taste and vulgarity.

Never stopping for a breather he proceeded to promote himself, as this and that and totally turned me of. His velour tuxedo (in California?) resembled more Dr. Doolittle’s, than a young and successful entrepreneur. Emulate icons in music world who are respected and never overdone or goody. Darling, pay attention to Quincy Jones, and you’ll learn what class is.

Johnny Depp in a shawl collar blue tuxedo, made “locally” and very poorly tailored, ill fitted and styled. It was horrid and tasteless. And why?

Anyone missing a Chia Pet in a clown’s suit? THIS AN ACADEMY AWARD, YOU BABOON!! One day in a year, dress in a suit and not a costume, you missed Halloween.

This event is considered by many to be a precursor to what will come in Oscar’s nominations… a tension filled event with many hopeful anticipating that when the evening is over presenters will have called their name and the globe will be theirs.

While the evening was reminiscent of the days when glamour ruled the red carpet, most of the men looked sharp and elegant and the majority of the ladies were stunning. Plastic surgery is a profession to be in, today.

Glamour is back and living in Hollywood and the stars here shined brightly in our town tonight. In this town where money rules, a different side of Hollywood showed up tonight as the winners accepted their awards and touched our hearts most profoundly, thanking their families and those that no longer are living but are watching from heavens doors. Hollywood with heart.

The Foreign Press Golden Globe Awards started with last year’s winner as a presenter and this year’s nominee, looking cute in a brown strapless cocktail dress by Carolina Herrera… not her usual glamour, but as always-the fabulous Rene Zellweger.

Hilary Swank looked beautiful in a chic brown Calvin Klein superb creation as the recipient of best actress award. Stunning!!!

Congratulations to Teri Hatcher of Desperate Housewives who looked stunning in her beautiful Donna Karan silver gown, while she shined with pride and natural beauty. The dress, on a scale of 1-5, I give it 3, too busy, had too much going on.

And the ensemble of Desperate Housewives, the sexiest cast, each and every one looked breathtakingly GORGEOUS. Kudos, ladies!

This year, Aviator’s Cate Blanchett made it to the top of the BEST list, looking absolutely fabulous in a 1930s-style Jean-Paul Gaultier lavender gown. Now, that is what I call class, once again recalling the glamour of the years gone by.

The bad girl of Desperate Housewives, Eva Longoria, sashayed in a black, bustier cocktail dress with delicate eyelet hemline by one of my favorite masters, Mr. Oscar de la Renta. Girl you are the BEST!!

Samuel Jackson oozes with confidence and grace as he steps with anticipation to the microphone in a brown tuxedo, perfectly fitting to the body that just seems filled with self-assurance and sex-appeal.

Clint Eastwood reflective of the days of glamour and elegance, taking to the stage as the best director, schmoozing with Usher, while looking like a shiny million bucks. What a classy and an attractive man. Just ask Meredith Viera, who flirted with him shamelessly when he guested on The View recently.

The Best dressed couple of the night! Hilary Swank, after winning for her role in Million Dollar Baby as the lens captures a most intimate moment shared with her husband Chad Lowe whom she called, “My everything.” Very cool.

Robin Williams, the Cecil B. DeMille Award Winner, whom we all know is an amazingly brilliant and versatile actor, but after tonight he showed yet another side of himself. What a kind heart beats in this outrageous man. One of the most moving moments of the night, and there were many, came at end of his acceptance speech… “I dedicate this award to the memory of a friend of mine. Chris Reeve, I miss you.” Looking to Heaven and quoting Shakespeare’s Hamlet, Williams said: “May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest, sweet prince. Thank you and good night.”

Just ok dressed couple. My countryman, ER’s Goran Visnjic with his lovely wife Ivana Vrdoljak, looked unnatural, resembling mannequins in a display window. He is a such hunk. Goran what is with that haircut? And Ivana, no bra doesn’t work my dear, get those girls up.

The worst dressed couple: Clive Owen with Sarah-Jane Fento. It is rare that one person makes the worst dressed list twice in the same night. Sadly the very handsome and talented Clive Owen, made it in both worst dreesed male and as couple, Clive, you can’t tie your own tie? I won’t even touch her dress, it speaks for itself; who is missing a tablecloth?

A ganster incognito, the odd fellow Johnny Depp keeps the conversation alive as he shows up in character, I think, and makes it again on the list of the Worst dressed.

ER’s Mekhi Phifer in a black suit paired with a lavender striped shirt, huge bulky watch, accompanied with too much jewelry, looked more like a well-dressed pimp than a Dr. he portrays on ER.

Star Jones Reynolds leads the parade of the Worst dressed, while successfully sabotaging all the hard work getting her new svelte figure and just to cover it with this mummified gown which makes her look like the late Mae West. And who ever tells you how to dress: FIRE THEM. More is not better. Next time leave some of your jewelry in your safe deposit instead. This dress was designed for a flat chested, tall and skinny woman and not for a sexy and voluptuous lady like you.

As clearly can be seen in this 1962 similar design by Oleg Cassini, for Mrs. Kennedy, designed for dinner at the White House honoring Nobel Prize winners of the Western Hemisphere.

Paula Abdul, why, why, why and again why do you do same things over and over again. Fire whoever is responsible for this masquerade. The breasts look like sourdough over flowing the dress; too tight and whole image is overdone for a such petite woman… All this just to be once again on the worst dressed list. Why do women who work so hard to look great sabotage their image???

Closer’s Natalie Portman, the winner of the best supporting actress, chose and failed tremendously in the outdated flapper gown, which overpowers her small statue.

Diane Keaton, Globes presenter, never fails to disappoint the critics as she shows up in an unflattering menswear jacket, worn over a floor-length tulle skirt. What… she couldn’t decide to go as man or a woman? Drag queen gone bad.

Lisa Marie Presley, what a disaster. I simply hated this Elvira look alike concoction of yard goods. Globes presenter Lisa Marie Presley walked in the wrong store and confused Golden Globes Awards for Halloween? Way too much of everything, from hair to shoes, choker, gown and cape.

One of my favorite comics, Megan Mullally: Worst of everything, starting with a sloppy hairstyle. It seemed she wore a nightgown with a man’s shirt tied over it. You think she would take more time to dress going to the car wash then she did for this elegant affair.

The worst crime, and someone should be arrested for this, was the cruel joke of the stunningly beautiful Charlize Theron in a John Galliano for Christian Dior gown… for this hair cut and most unflattering black hair color.

The trend was tieless, unbuttoned shirts resembling the seventies and black was the theme for the evening. Nominees wore black, the presenters wore black, the MCs wore black, and the ushers wore black. The night was drab and boring, so were the costumes with the exception of a few courageous souls who dared to look uniquely individual by wearing color. What an idea!

The evening started with the worst hairstyle belonging to the head of the handsome Malcolm-Jamal Warner unfortunately his hair looked like a birds nest and a tuxedo made him look more like a monk then a star.

Ellen Degeneres, winner of the favorite daytime talk show host, in her ever so manly black on black tuxedo looked more masculine then Prince, who looked very girly man in a white hooded outfit borrowed from Jlo’s closet. We wouldn’t expect anything ordinary from this talented entertainer, he is so loved, and the outfit was overlooked for the pleasure of seeing him back on stage. Too bad he didn’t honor us with a song.

No matter what color is her hair, what she wears, how skinny she is or not, she is one and only, magical, quirky, and ever so brilliantly talented Renee Zellweger and the people choice agreed. She won.

Will and Grace’s Sean Hayes, stop chewing gum in public, you look like a total dork. Was alcohol contributor to his odd behavior or did he stay in character? His show won as TV favorite comedy.

Marg Helgenberger, body to die for and dress barely to stay awake for, hairstyle sloppy. Great tush!!! Congratulations on wining and defying the law of gravity.

Presenter, Leah Remini, should have left her dress on the rack where she claimed she got it from and come naked. That dress was more then awful, it was dreadful, she looked like a middle-aged suburban housewife going to a Bar Mitzvah.

Matt LeBlanc, winner of favorite male TV, looking sexier then Joe in an unbuttoned shirt and killer fitting 3-button suit. I wish he wore a tie, after all it was honoring those who chose him, the people.

Will Smith, at lest someone danced to his own tune and wore a brown tux, black shirt with brown charmeuse silk tie. While it is bit too much of a dark color, this man would look sexy if he wore nothing, I mean a sack. His image is stunning, his body is stunning, so is his wife.

To Extreme Makeovers Home Edition, congratulations on winning the favorite makeover reality show and my condolences on your wardrobe makeovers. Who ever dressed that darling boy Ty Pennington; the design team leader/carpenter should be spanked with 2×4!

Tom Selleck, as a presenter, looked sinister in his black colored facial hair. Tom, after the age of 50, hair color should be a shade or two lighter then your natural color, as a darker color ages a person, even a timelessly gorgeous man like you. Soften up darling; smile; even when the Democrats win, be gracious Tom.

Sheryl Crow makes 40 look 20. That women is beautiful, but next time call me so you won’t get caught wearing that ridicules belt and shoes for such a special occasion like accepting a deserving award. Your outfit should be fitted to your body. On scale of 1-10: body 20; outfit 5.

Martin Sheen, what a class act, presenter of the favorite movie, regally and with conviction called on the war situation and the people listened and chose Michael Moore’s Fahrenheit 9/11 for Favorite Movie. Congratulations to the people of America, they are listening. Mr. President, open your heart, listen to the voices of your people and bring our soldiers home to their families.

Newlyweds Jessica Simpson, and that hunk of a husband of hers, Nick Lachey hit the jackpot again and won the favorite realty show. Didn’t like her hair do and her bronzed face looked over done and sabotaged her natural beauty. He can’t do no wrong, he is sooooooooo very sexy, oozed with charm and in my book the best dressed male for the night.

Talk about the odd fellow, Johnny Depp won the most popular male actor and gave his thanks somewhere from the lands unknown in a most bizarre outfit of the evening, looking like a Professor Doolittle, from my Fair Lady and Sherlock Holmes all in one. Bizarre.

The evening blissfully ended with the best dressed female of the night, Rene Russo, dressed in a breathtaking red ball gown and hair in an up swip, looked better then ever, presented her buddy Mel Gibson for The Passion of the Christ for Favorite Movie Drama and ever so deserving and gracious Mel with little humor and that darn frog in his throat kept coming up, as he thanking those who hold the power, the people.

And I missed Desperate Housewives for this.

Why do we, we the people, have a such a huge thirst for realty shows? Every day more and more television waves are exposing across the world the private lives we in the past as a society wouldn’t dream of divulging. Today, you never know whose face will be looking at and trying to decipher what is their intent, their purpose of putting themselves at the mercy of media exposure.

I think reality shows are popular because we love champions, we love winners, and specially at this very difficult time in our society, we as a humanity, are looking for heroes, human generosity, something that is real, something that is not generated from a political platform or a theatrical trained performance, no script, just an ordinary Joe American who can win just by who they are, by their own courage and commitments. Today, more then ever before, we need the heroes to remind us that there is honesty and decency in this world.

For over a decade we have been bombarded with reality television and have become addicted to watching real life imitating life. I am no exception. My choice of addictions are my favorite, “The Apprentice,” “Survivor” and one that moves me to tears and tugs even at my husband’s heart strings, “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” The last one made us sob for the family of a widower, father of eight children - a great home makeover for this deserving family.

Remember, the middle-aged, pudgy, bearded a vocational and clinical mentor for troubled teens from the Survivor, Mr. Rupert Boneham? The whole country rooted for him to win, he is the guy next door.

Most of the shows I watch pertain to some sort of makeover, so it is not surprising that I would watch Fox’s latest reality venture, “The Swan”, and with great suffering.

The premise of the show is to take “average looking” women and put them through a rigorous three month total body makeover that includes diet, exercise, and plastic surgery in an effort to transform them into beauty pageant contestants.

Now let me preface that I am in support of any form self improvement as long as it is safe, comes from a healthy place and builds the self-confidence of that individual. While most of the work is of amazing quality, the end result of the makeovers look like gorgeous drag queens, with horrid looking hair extensions and evening gowns that have nothing to do with who those women are, or their life style.

Each episode features two women, sequestered from family and friends and forbidden to see themselves in a mirror for the duration of the process. Just after an emotional reveal, one of the women is told she is still not beautiful enough to continue on to the actual pageant.

The Swan hasn’t failed week after week to make number one of the worst list of the reality shows. I personally don’t know any of the amazing cast of professionals, except for the dearest man on the face of this earth, the professional and very endearing Dr. Randal Haworth, who is my doctor and many of my clients have been his very satisfied patients. I am so sorry to see him connected with this show, the man is a magnificent surgeon and, ladies, he is easy on the eyes.

Finally, The Swan mercifully is drowning in the sea of bad reviews. Last week Entertainment Weekly came up with their list for the best and the worst and once again the Swan made the list of the worst realty shows. Sadly, I agree.

To those courageous women of The Swan, the participants I salute; to the writers and producers of the show, wake up and smell the coffee, the reality is your ship is sinking faster than the Titanic. It is pompous without a reason for the pomp and circumstances. The message is not to be the best of who you are but who you are not. It pained me watching those poor women marching like horses down the stage at the last competition; again my profound respect and accolades to them. And these are the kind of shows that makes me as an image consultant cringe with embarrassment and amazement that there are people who put junk like that on the air.

Any Regrets For Jerry Buss About Kobi?

I had the pleasure of meeting the tycoon Jerry Buss the former real estate developer and owner of the most spectacular and winning basketball team LA Lakers, on few occasions. During the late 70’s, while working with French aperitif Pernod, we sponsored the tennis tournament for the Los Angeles Strings team, whose roster included, at various times, Chris Evert, Billy Jean King, and Ilie Nastase.

While I appreciated meeting the great Billy Jean and such, who I was impressed with was Mr. Buss. His demeanor understated, his presence ever so gentle reminder that ego is not necessary to be champion.

This modest man was very charming and caring. At some point I was looking for an apartment and he made sure I had one before the end of that day. The fact that I was stunning looking, I am sure helped, however he never made inappropriate move in my direction, the proverbial gentleman at all times.

It seems whatever Mr. Buss touched it turned into gold, so no one was surprised when he hired Phil Jackson, head coach of the legendary Chicago Bulls team that were led by Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, to continue to lead the Lakers to be world champions.

Jackson, the NBA’s most intriguing figure, a man of great charm, integrity, and competitive drive, for whom basketball was a game to be won and an existential exercise whose basic precepts of sharing the ball and passing to the open man elevated it to a metaphor of the ideal community. Jackson is not an everyday man, he is the Renaissance man with a Midas touch and twinkle in his eyes that at his presence even my heart trembles with wonder.

What intrigues me is, why did Mr. Buss let go of a golden man like Phil Jackson and keep the spoiled and, it seems daily, full-of-himself Kobe Bryant? Jerry insists money not a main decisive factor in this decision making, but the facts indicate differently.

Kobi’s latest tantrum with Carl Malone seems self-indulgent and how does he have a leg to stand on when it comes to making a fuss over harmless flirtation? I guess Mrs. Bryant needed to prove to her husband there are men who think she is hot. Your actions are an embarrassment and I wonder if Jerry now regrets the decision, choosing Kobi over Jackson.

However, there is something I would love to change about Jerry. My dream is to get my hands on him and perform the most remarkable makeover I have ever done, and I’ll do it free of charge. First, he needs to fire his barber and his wardrobe person and I’ll do my magic and let the world-class leader emerge from beneath that schlepy appearance. He deserves an image to match the great man that he is!

Jerry, don’t be afraid. You just call me! 310-574-6018.

Not since the likes of Clark Gable and those amazing bigger then life swashbuckler movie stars, Errol Flynn, and Garry Cooper have we been blessed to feast our vision and imaginations on an actor with great looks, sexy southern accent and presence that demands notice.

How many of you remember the infamous line from Margaret Michelle’s “Gone with the Wind” uttered form the lips of then the lord the screen, Clark Gable: “Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.” That look that stance, it sadi it alland made us wont for more.

So finnaly somone has discoverd an actor with that same magntizam, whic filles our screens capable with that one look to communicate all, the fear, the discontent, the arrogance, loneliness, anger and all with great passion and conviction.

Keep your eyes wide-open ladies as you feast and get lost in the magic of those blue-green eyes whose power is as captivating as the sunsets of the Hawaiian Islands where he spends time filming the role of the bad boy Sawyer on Lost, Josh Holloway who will surely make every women wish she was lost alone on some far and distant island in his strong and masculine arms.

Alleluia!!!
